Brief 2:: Boards
Although we did not manage to complete this brief due to a lack of communication from the fashion show committee, I did however produce work so I have put this onto boards to show what I have done for this brief.
Brief 2:: Online Presence
I have mocked up the online presence for the NU LCA fashion graduate show 2013, so we can show them what it could look like. I am also going to propose to the committee that they also have active Facebook, Titter and Tumblr accounts in order to create interest about the event.
Brief 2:: Invite/flyer designs
Using the same layout and grid system as the poster, I have produce smaller scale invites/flyers
Brief 2:: Fashion Poster Designs
Using images of the students work and the information they have given us, I have produced a few poster variations for the fashion show

Brief 2:: Graduate Fashion Show Branding
Despite having countless meetings and coming up with a concept and visual identity for the Leeds College of Art Fashion show, communication has been extremely lax between graphics and fashion. As Amber said we were not allowed to use this as a substantial brief I have not particularly made the effort to contact them. Fashion have been concentrating on their work and have only just contacted us to say that they want all of the deliverables ready for next week, now that their deadline has passed. Due to the fact that this brief is not one of my substantial briefs, there is no way that I have time to produce all of their deliverables by next week.
We have told them that after deadline we can produce the deliverables for them so they are going to decide and let us know by the end of next week on their decision.

Brief 3:: Digitally printing fabric labels
Today, I managed to get into digital fabric printing to print Liv's clothes label for her garments.
We looked at the fabric samples we had to choose from to print on and decided that the cotton would be the best.
We managed to get 32 labels across the 1 meter of fabric. Liv only needs 13 garment labels so we have more than enough!

Brief 2:: Further Logo Development
I am trying to find a typeface that will sit well with the new logo we are now working with.
I have tried working with the typeface 'Avenir'
I also looked at using the typeface 'Avant Garde Gothic'
I think I prefer the Avenir typeface as it sits better with the logo. The kerning on both compliment each other well to produce an aesthetically pleasing design.

Brief 2:: Fashion Meeting
Today we had a meeting with the fashion show committee to show them the design we had come up with and check that they approved.
They were very accommodating to our concept of the two pathways of their course working as a visual representation and are happy for us to go ahead and use it.
We are now going to design a letterhead and email header that we can apply the logo to. We want the turn around of this to be fairly quick so they can begin to contact sponsors. We hope to get this to them either this evening or first thing tomorrow morning.

Brief 2:: Logo Development
James, Frankie and myself all designed logo to discuss today. The three of us decided on pushing Frankie's logo as we felt it had the most scope within the new concept of it representing the two pathways as well as the exhibition and catwalk that will be at the show. We worked together to consolidate the logo so that we were all happy with it.
Frankie and myself are now going to find a type that will sit well with the logo. This type will needto say 'the fashion showcase' in order to give the logo context.
James is going to work on designing a letterhead so that when we have finalised the logo we can immediately apply this to the letterhead and hand it over.

Brief 2:: Fashion Show logo
I have been working on the logo design for the graduate fashion show titled 'NEU'. I began by considering what the logo needs to connote
I then started working with different typefaces to see what would work best.
We then decided to drop the 'E' from 'neu' so that the two letters reflected each other and also worked as a concept for their fashion show. We want the n and u to represent the two pathways on the fashion course but showing how they come together.

Brief 2:: Fashion Show Branding Meeting
Today we had another meeting with fashion show committee to clarify the name of the show so that we can move forward and begin to design a logo for the show. They have decided to call the show NEU which is German for new.
We have arranged to meet up with the committee and go with them to the venue, Canal Mills, on Tuesday after our next meeting with them to show them our initial logo designs. Once we have agreed a logo, they then want to begin applying this to print collateral (letter heads) so that they can send out letters in order to get sponsors.

FSB:: Meeting with Amber
The graduate fashion design team met with Amber today to discuss our progress so far and how we should continue to approach this brief. It was bought to our attention that having four people all designing will not be productive.
As a result, as a group we have decided that Fanki and Liv are going to take charge of the design side of the brief, whereas James and I are going to run the production side of the brief. This allow me to communicate with professionals and gain valuable experience with printers.

FSB:: Meeting
Today we had a meeting with both the fashion show committee.
In our meeting with the fashion show committee, we discussed how we are going to take this project forward. Firstly we are going to design a few logos which we can take back to them when we meet next Monday for us to discuss and conclude a design. This will allow them to begin to apply this to their web presence and social media.
We have asked them to provide us with key dates in which they want us to have produced different deliverables by and a list of the exact deliverables the want us to produce. We have also asked for the budget we are going to have to work with by the meeting next Monday.
In doing this, it should allows us to approach this brief in an organized manor and ensure that the project is well time managed.

White Blackout Magazine
The simple but visually engaging design of this magazine enables a message to be clearly communicated, whilst at the same time enabling a fun element to be present within the publication. This is something we need to achieve within our design for the Fashion yearbook.

FSB:: Presentation
As we had been selected as one of the two finalists to work on the design of the fashion show branding, we today met with the fashion show committee to present our ideas and pitch for the design job. We continued the concept of old&new with the stitching on print to capitalize on the fact that they are fashion designers showcasing their work in an old textile mill. We showed the team examples of poster designs, flyers, online presence, gifts for the guests and wayfinding for the event. Overall, they seemed pleased with our ideas and gave us positive feedback. They will get back to us tomorrow to let us know who has been selected for the design job.

FSB:: Sans Serif Typeface
We had discussed the possibility of James designing a typeface to be used in the designs. However, he had designed a typeface previously and presented it to the fashion show committee and they weren't overly keen on it as they thought it was too feminine to represent the course as there are boys on the course too. After discussions with James we decided that we would use an existing typeface as we could then use it for both headlines and body copy, to ensure consistency, and use it straight away. Whereas a typeface James could make would only be used as a header.
We want to use a sans serif typeface, so James and myself took a trip to the library to see what sans serif typefaces we could potentially use. We came across a typeface called 'NOA' which we thought would be apt.

FSB:: Flyer/Poster Proposal
I have these designs which can be scaled up or down to be either an informative poster or flyer. I have purposely made the design 220 x 250 mm to fit in with the old/new concept I am not using A format paper sizes. I have also kept the design minimal in regards to colour so that the colour can be applied through the stitching which will be applied after printing.
